Application & Technical Requirements

The secondary suite application and technical requirements are an important part of obtaining a legal suite. In order for your application to be approved, your suite must meet the guidelines listed in the form below. You may use the following form as a guide while you make renovations and improvements to ensure that your suite is up to code. It is recommended that you use a contractor to help you during this process. A building permit is required for any secondary suite and you can apply at the Permit, License, and Inspection Services Department. 

The following form includes information about what your suite should look like/include in order to be considered by the city. The form also includes a digital application for a suite that you can fill in from your laptop. There are four sections on the form. These sections include your application type, secondary suite information, registered owner information, and signatures.
